1963 Dark Blue Dash Paint from Corvette America

    Hello,

I just painted the dash on my 63 with dark blue dye from CA. It seems to have more of a flat finish than a satin finish as explained in the JM #8. The car has the textured grain on the dash. Is this color correct or should I look to have a clear satin finish over the dark blue color?

Also, the speaker grille is supposed to have a low gloss paint....does this mean semi-gloss???

I'm getting new dash pads from Al Knoch and they are supposed to be on their way.

    Thoughts on the coloring???

    Thanks

Although this chart is from 1967, I believe the C2 locations and gloss levels were consistent:

Interesting to see the NO3 gas tank cover listed.

Jerry, I believe your safe with low gloss from corvette america.follow Jacks post and if you need to paint something with some gloss use a semi gloss clear over the,CA blue.

Naaa... whatz interesting is HOW it was written.
I guess it was better than listing it as #3 Gas Tank Cover.

Yes, pretty cryptic alright. But I knew what they meant.....

I own a 1964 convertible also with dark blue dash interior components (and seats and carpet), which matches to the trim plate specs. However, my interior has black (not dark blue) glovebox door front, instrument cluster housing, side trim (radio access) panels, and console/shifter cover.

The Judging Guide says that both the instrument cluster and glove box border should be black (which I have). However, it says that the side trim panels and console/shifter cover should be interior color (which is dark blue for my car). I have also purchased the Corvette America dark blue paint to address the side trim panels and console / shifter cover.

Can anyone with knowledge on this topic confirm that my understanding of which components are black (even in a dark blue interior) and which are dark blue is correct?

Thanks Ed. I may do the speaker grille with the clear semi-gloss after I experiment a little

Your choice... but I'd prefer to avoid the possibilities of dashboard reflections (unless you don't plan on driving).

Jerry, The Speaker grille and radio side panels should be the lowest gloss. Don't add Clear to them.
