State Farm To Team Up With Hagerty To Form New Name>State Farm Classic Ins. Company

Just got my letter from State Farm Today indicating the above. The policy I have now will
no longer be available when it runs out in October 2025. Policy is for a 1966 Corvette Coupe.
Current policy is for Car Shows/Judging Meets/Test Drives>NOT FOR EVERYDAY USE. More
information to follow. Time will tell if this is good or bad for the car owner. Thanks>Larry

It is very rarely good news..or even neutral news.....but we can hope.

I used to be a State Farm customer. Actually, for nearly 50 years. When I asked about insuring my classic Corvette for stated value it was “no bueno”. Ok, so I went to Hagerty for that insurance and stayed with State Farm for my other cars and house. When it came time to replace my roof I did so with only the best of materials (shingles). A few years later, my contractor asked if I got a reduced rate based on the quality of shingles I used. I followed up with my State Farm agent and asked about it. Oh, he said, you certainly qualify for a reduced rate. Now, keep in mind that I notified him immediately upon roof replacement that we now had a new roof. However, the reduced rate would only apply to the current year and going forward. Well, to say the least, I was pissed that they would not make the reduced rate retroactive to when the roof was replaced. So, as a result, I dropped State Farm and went with another vendor. So, I am skeptical of State Farm. However, since they may be partnering with Haggerty, it might be ok. I apologize for getting into the weeds on this but, in spite of all the advertising State Farm does, they are not the cat’s ass in my opinion. My advice, do your research.

I've got Hagerty for two cars and Allstate is/was my primary. Have an ongoing homeowner claim due to storm damage and lets just say I don't feel I am in good hands.

your timeline don't make sense. ...you notified State Farm when the roof was replaced and they said fine from there forward but they would not go retro to when the roof was replaced?? eh? And either way...if you think that is bad...well...they all sahk.

I got my letter from State Farm also. NCM Insurance was suggested also, so I'll get a quote from them. Has anyone had experience with NCM Insurance? vs Haggerty?

Keep in mine that NCM is a broker, not insurer: they offer policies using American Modern Ins. and Hagerty depending on insurance coverage area for each company and state insurance commission. From what I have gathered on CF, I believe Hagerty through NCM is less expensive than direct, but I've no experience with that. I am insured through NCM with American Modern (had American Collectors for decades but switched during Covid).

Adam Boca and his team are outstanding when it comes to customer service.

I had State Farm insurance for daily drivers and C2s for over 50 years. For 45 or so my agents and service were top notch through several claims. Near the end of my contract, I found the company changed. The agent only sold and/or collected payment. Never showed any other time. Any claim/question was always “call this number”. Cost was not cheap as I wanted good service and was willing to pay for it. They’ve gone the way of Progressive in a race to the bottom. Independent local agent seems to want to keep my business 👍. Adam gets the Vettes.

I had State Farm for both DD and Collector cars for decades. The Agent was an NCRS member and a Illinois Chapter member. He ran a family business with his wife and son also working in the agency. When he passed State Farm wouldn't let them keep the agency in the family. The agent who took over bald faced lied to me as to why State Farm wouldn't keep the business in the family. Adios Sate Farm, and I haven't looked back.

NCM (AM) has had the collector cars since. The DD went to Allstate, but they have turned to a faceless agent who's most common response is "Leave a voicemail after the tone." I am spoiled by Adam Boca and his team at the NCM. The rest of the insurance business sucks.

I have State Farm for two cars, the house, personal insurance ( incase a contractor gets hurt) and LTC. It's bundled and the cost is low compared to everyone else.

The three Corvettes are with NCM. This works for me and it's a price performer.

You need to shop around based on your total needs!

Switched from Hagerty to NCM maybe 15 years ago. Couldn't be more satisfied. Hagerty wouldn't add my 2007 Z06 to the policy with the other cars because my daily drivers (separate policy and insurer) were more then 5 years old - yup, that is what they told me. Reason being that since my dailys were older then 5 years (actually 6 at the time) they were more likely to break down and I'd resort to driving one of the Corvettes. Called NCM, no issues with daily drivers, I have all five Corvettes with them now. Dropped Hagerty the next day and never looked back

I can't find anything on the Hagerty web-site that indicates any of this. In addition, I insure with Hagerty and they've sent me no notice of any change. My policy does not renew until December, though.

Hay Joe: Thanks for your comments. The way I read this letter is that State Farm is
combining with Hagerty for their use. Believe Hagerty will still be a "Stand Alone" Ins.
company for those who have no connection with State Farm. I could be wrong though.
                          Thanks>Larry

For years, USAA referred members with "collector cars" to American Collectors and their rates were very good, but most recently they DOUBLED, so I'm shopping around.

I suspect this State Farm-Hagerty deal is simply a joint marketing arrangement like USAA has with American Collectors, not an actual acquisition.
