Question regarding the PV test on my 95 Corvette

I am doing the PV test on my 95 Corvette next week and the PV booklet for my car states
that part of the test is checking the auxiliary power plug. The owners manual for my car states that
the auxiliary power plug is buried in the dash and accessing it requires removing the console compartment
lid and the shifter bezel on my car. Please tell me that they don't actually require you to do this.....that is insane.
Since the power plug is on the same fuse as the cigarette lighter, there is no reason to check it if it has never been used.....
there is no reason why it wouldn't work if it's never been used and the fuse is good. I consulted the owners manual when
I looked around and found that there was no visible power outlet other than the cigarette lighter. I would like to hear from
another C4 owner who has done PV regarding this issue.

    Winston,
I'm jumping in here... Allen Tremain does not follow this site too often.
    So I'll answer the question.

You will not be required to expose the harness. If however it was exposed for it's intended use (cell phone power point) it would be checked.

    Hope this helps.

I do not recall Tom Barr checking the function of the Accessory Plug Wiring during my 1992 PV. But I did ensure the accessory plug wiring label was visible inside the console door/storage area.

Thanks guys for the quick response and clarification. Pete......will I need to furnish a jumper wire for
the diagnostic connector or will the person in charge of the test have that or a scan tool available?

Don't forget to take a CD and cassette tape along. You will need them.

Tom Barr had a plug-in that accomplished the same thing by jumping those two pins.

              Winston,

Tom Barr had a scan device when I went through ops on my 95.
He cleared all the codes (5) on my system prior to taking the 10 mile road portion of the test.
Luckily, none of the codes reappeared and it passed the pv.

Winston, I don't believe it is necessary to remove your dash to access the accessory plug. Attached are instructions from my 1992 owner's manual describing the process. Additionally I am attaching a photo of the accessory plug label that is found in the center console. If it isn't immediately visible, it most likely is underneath the material lining your console. Any experienced interior C4 judge should look for this label. When Tom Barr judged my car for PV, he checked the label as he went through the non driving portion of the test. I had my accessory plug out lying in the console in the event Tom wanted to see it. I don't remember if he looked at it. Finally I had the same experience Jerome mentioned in his post. Tom plugged in a OBD tester before and after the driving portion. No codes were set therefore my car passed.
