1965 Fuelie Engine Stamp Pad

So I have the '65 Info Manual & Judging Guide, but could not find anything about engine stamp pads. Am I missing something?

I'm looking at a '65 fuelie & it has a strange stamping on the pad. The VIN is 19467S118406, so it is a May '65 build & an HG engine. The Vin part is ok, but the engine info is odd. The 2 imprints before the H are concerning. The striations are vertical (good, right?).

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Rob,

A wider image of the whole pad might be helpful for those more knowledgeable about engine pads.

The "striations" are called broach marks....

Is there some kind of finish that has been placed over these stampings ? it doesn't look like bare metal to me; but that could just be lighting or something else affecting the image.

There are others on this TDB that are far more knowledgeable about pads than I am...

Stamped characters (even correctly placed in the gang holder) were not always as "neat" and consistent as you might think (or want).

Although the fonts do not appear to all be the same style (that did happen); they do seem to have been in the gang holder (not individual stamps one at a time) because the bottom alignment seems to be fairly consistent.
