    1993 ZR-1 Key Fob

OK so, ZR-1 has nothing to do with it except, did they only come with one fob and was it always a coupe fob? It is my understanding, with regard to ZR-1, an extra (2nd) fob would be listed on the Monroney Label if so equipped. Is that correct?

Would anyone have an estimate on a fair price for a 1993 NOS coupe fob. The halves clip together meaning, no screw.

    Appreciate any info

    Mark,

I am 100% confident that 2 fobs and at least 2 keys are included with each car.
There would be 2 power keys as well.
Think of it this way, if an owner lost a fob, or it failed during warranty period an owner would be up for a tow to the dealer.
Maroney label or build sheets do not go to level.
    Hope this helps!!

      Mark,

      Found this website https://www.keylessentryremotefob.co...utton-key-fob/

You might want to buy one of the originals on ebay that are parts only and use new reproduction guts.

I just purchased, tonight, a 1993 ZR-1 from the original owner. It has 2,200 miles and a hefty amount of factory and dealership documentation. It only has one fob however, the fob only has one pushbutton. With my minuscule knowledge, I associated that with a convertible.
The TIM&JG states only one fob with ZR-1, unless a 2nd was ordered.
Just trying to start the research regarding ZR-1 fobs.

Mark, this is a topic I have looked into myself. Here is what I can share from my own experiences:
            1. I am sure you and many people know you do not need a remote fob to unlock, drive, and lock a 1993-1996 C4. So, the notion that it was not possible to purchase a new 1993 Corvette and receive only one fob in my opinion is unfounded.
            2. I have purchased two extremely low mileage 1993 40th Anniversary Corvettes from the original owners.
            3. One is a Convertible with nearly every option offered and according to the original owner it came with two fobs. This was somewhat of a surprise when I had this car judged and presented two fobs and two keys.
            4. I also have a 1993 40th Anniversary ZR1. It has all of the original paperwork and as far as I can tell with the exception of the battery everything is original. The first and only owners sold me the car one year ago, and both were sure the car only came with only one fob from Buds Chevrolet in St. Mary's Ohio.
            5. Tom Hendricks has recently stepped away from being the Corvette Sales Specialist at Buds Chevrolet. He was selling new Corvettes in 1993, and he told me that in his experience most if not all 1993's only came with one remote.

I would suggest that you contact Tom Hendricks, and Dennis Lombardo. Both are NCRS members who will have first-hand knowledge on what was delivered from the factory and sold by dealers in 1993. I do agree with Pete, and do not think it was printed on the Window sticker. I can say with confidence, the original window stickers for my 1993's and my low other mileage, one previous owner C4's show it on the window sticker.

I hope this helps and look forward to more comments on this topic.
What a great car you have added to your collection!
            Best Regards, Eric

Correction: Do Not show it on the Window Sticker!

                I've not owned a C4, but I found this:

how many FOBs came with a 1993 corvette

A 1993 Chevrolet Corvette came factory equipped with a Passive Keyless Entry (PKE) system. This system uses a transmitter in the key fob (also called a remote) to unlock the car when it comes within range.
While a 1993 Corvette could support up to three different PKE transmitters that could be programmed to the vehicle, it's not clear exactly how many were initially included when the car was sold new.
                Here's why it's not definitive:
                • Sources indicate that you can program up to three remotes.
                • The programming procedure involves flashing the Passive Keyless Entry lamp to indicate the number of the remote being programmed (one flash for the first, two for the second, three for the third).
                • One source mentions the car potentially came with "a couple two actual key fobs".
Therefore, while the car's system could handle up to three, it's likely they came with two. One possible reason for this is that it would provide a spare remote in case one was lost or damaged.

I may be incorrect in my assumption that the cars were delivered with 2 fobs.
It's been a few years since I was on that team.
Perhaps some of the current team members can fill in the blanks.

Guys, 1993 Corvette Owner's Manual clearly states; "equipped from the factory with one transmitter".

The owner of the blue 93 is well known within the Corvette community. The family has owned many significant examples through the years. They special ordered this vehicle and saved the train receipt to Dearborn to pick the car up. The original oil, from the first oil change, was saved and goes with the car.

They tell me they are 'for Imprint' certain the car only came with one fob and it is the one I will receive with the vehicle. With that being said, I'm always curious and realize things can become hazy after thirty two years.

Nit-noid research on small parts is what being a NCRS member is all about. I look forward to learning more.

One other data point...a good friend and fellow NCRS member sold his 1995 ZR-1 recently. On the window sticker, 'extra FOB' was noted. Now, that's 1995 and it is only one data point.

                      Long Live NCRS!

Mark, that is very nice ZR1 you found. I like the color combination. Something different! Enjoy it!

Congrats Mark on another special ZR-1 acquisition. Stunning color combo. Interesting to see a $34K Car with a $32K option. I remember when they came out but never recall they were $69K.

The build sheet I have for our original owner 95 on line 32, Extra PKE is blank. Don't recall or have photo of the PKE fob or if 2. Suspect only 1. Also have photo of the front and back of the PKE program instructions.

Congratulations, Mark, on the purchase of yet another exceptional ZR1.
In response to the question regarding the key fob, this matter was previously discussed during a regional judging event several years ago. At that time, the vehicle owner provided documentation from the owner’s manual, specifically referencing the page highlighted by Gary Chestnut in an earlier post. Following this, Tom Barr updated his personal 1992/1993 manual noting that factory delivery standards included one key fob. As a result, interior judges expect to see one fob.
