    66 cigarette lighter element

I got dinged 25 pts for a non working cigarette lighter and a few more for a casco 72 element and a missing ceramic disc at the regional this May .

My question is this, I see casco 63 elements for sale on eBay alot but I am not sure if they are replaceable. can you take apart a 66 lighter and replace the element ?

Jim, the knob unscrews from the lower element section.

As far as the lighter not working do you have power going to it? Also you need to look inside the retainer to make sure you have three slots that hold the lighter in, as the original were three slotted. Having a two slotted retainer may cause a PV failure.

        Harry ,

I have tried several times over the past week to unscrew it and it would not budge. I was afraid that the 66 lighter was welded or all one piece With your assurance I applied a pair of pliers and a bit more force and sure enough it did unscrew !

        Gary,
I Checked and I do indeed have the three pronged retainer , So once I get the new element on I will try again and hope I don't need to trace down a power wire !

        Thanks Guys !

Rich Mozzetta did an excellent write up on the 63 - 67 lighter
He shows all the parts, do a search for it.

There are two size 63-casco elements, you want the short one.
