Original VS Restamped or Non original engines

I appreciate the moderators closing the thread about the 67 Big Block that was on Bring a Trailer last week. I also feel that the thread got out of hand and it should have been closed.

I do believe that everyone is entitled to their opinion but it is just that....someone's opinion. My reason for writing this follow up is to let all of the members that frequent this Discussion Board understand and grasp what an opinion that is contrary to our NCRS process and mission does to those who do not have an understanding.

NCRS does allow and judge cars that no longer have an original engine. In fact, some of those cars lost the original engine before the warranty had expired. Should we still judge these cars? Of course we should. Some of those cars are still the best Corvettes in the country, regardless of what engine is in there. Just as an original engine car that was in a terrible accident and needed a new nose, doors and quarter panels is. We have a process and a standard to follow. I will make sure we uphold that process and standard throughout.

When we all make statements that a car without it's original engine should not be treated the same as a car with the original engine, we drive owners of these cars away from our wonderful organization. That is far from our MISSION. It's an attitude and theory that should not be spread throughout NCRS even if it's the belief of a small faction. In a time where we are trying to keep the members we have, and grow the organization, driving members or potential members away is not in our best interest. If you don't care for Corvettes with replacement engines, then don't own one. But please don't slight those who do, welcome them and appreciate the car they have for what it is. Some great cars without original engines have received our highest awards.

I write this, and I respond to those who don't follow our standard so that wrong information is not spread. Some people without a full understanding may believe that what they are reading is correct. I'm not trying to single anyone out or be combative in conversation. I just need the proper information to get to those who might not know what it is. As an organization, we need to break the reputation we currently have. There are plenty of Corvette owners out there that truly believe if they have a car with a replacement engine they can not belong to NCRS. How does this happen? It happens because of statements similar to those that permeated that thread.

    Thank you for listening.

    Joe
