C 1, Big Brake brake shoes

Any information as to locating a new set of the appropriate front shoes that are wider than 2" and fit the wide heavy duty drums on my !960 will be appreciated

If you are looking only for serviceable shoes that fit and work, look for a set of front shoes for a '56 Oldsmobile. The only difference between them and original "big brake" shoes is that the Olds shoes won't have the segmented metallic linings.

NAPA sells these as their part number TS160.

I looked at Napa but couldn't find shoes for 56 olds. I recall using 57 olds shoes on our 61 big brake fuel ink''d vet about 20 years ago. I went to Fusic Olds , my source for olds parts. anyway, the shoe you'll want will fit a 49 to 64 Oldsmobile excluding the cutlas models of the early 60's. Although Fusic has a set of front and rear brake shoes for sale, you only need the fronts. so google 49 to 64 Olds brake shoes and you'll find many sources for your needs. good luck with your RPO corvette. mike

Interesting, Mike. NAPA may have done a records purge. Who knows. Regardless, the NAPA TS160 shoes are the right ones.

If you have a set of worn-out shoes, I believe there are brake shoe rebuilders that can re-line them to original configuration and functionality.
