First time posting so hope I’m right. Need help and/or info. I recently purchased my dream car. It is a 1973 numbers matching corvette 454 4 sp. M21 3:70 rear. The car has unbelievable power and I am simply in love with the car. I am not concerned so much with the matching but the engine stamped code has me puzzled. The stamped code is CMW the correct code should be CWM. Is a wrong stamp possible? The date codes on the parts I’ve ck’d confirm it’s correct. Can anyone help with info on this?

My question relates to the 1st character...What happened to the top bar of what presumably should be (?) a "T" ?
Even if the M & W were inserted into the stamp holder incorrectly (maybe he was holding it upside down ?), I see no evidence at all of the top T bar...odd that a stamp would break off that cleanly, eh ?
Did GM have any foundries that used an "I" code in their assembly stamps ?

I think it's there - the pic is pretty low quality and the light isn't helping to highlight the cross-bar.
