    06 C-6 "FOB not Found"

I just removed my 06 from storage and the FOB did not connect with the car. I put it in the pocket in the glove box and it started. When I got home. I tried it again and no fob found. I got the other fob and the same error message. I changed the batteries in both fobs, but still nothing. Is there a trouble shooting document around that I can try before taking it to the dealer Thanks

Good Afternoon Pat. My C7 Had That Issue. Does Your Car Have A Pocket Below The Steering Column So The Fob System Can Be Read ?

On the C6's the location is actually in the glove box, far left side, on the top.

Do check both batteries, fob and starting. The cars are not happy with low battery voltages.

I got the spare fob working by changing the battery, but the Driver 1 is still not working and it also has a new battery

The brand of battery seems to make a difference.
If the shiny side of your battery has a faint "waffle" or checkered pattern, it might not work even if it's new. This is a known issue.

I believe that Energizer 2032 Lithium batteries work; at least they did a week ago when I swapped them out in my wife's car after having this issue.

The waffle side is the (-) side of the Duracell's I'm using. It registers 3.28 V on my meter and the other one, the spare registers 3.05 V which is working. I'll Try another battery later to see if it's the battery. I've used these for years without any issue, but I guess there is always a first time

Get a non-waffle battery. As noted, the Energizer Lithium does not have the waffle pattern.
And yes, we tried my wife's car with a waffle one we had on hand first. Apparently Mazda fobs also don't like them.

I just opened the FOB on my 2006. The battery is a Panasonic 2032. Slight waffling but works fine. I change the batteries every year.

Can't have a dead FOB at a PV.

Harry, Please post a photo of that Panasonic battery negative surface if you have an extra one around. I can't find any photos online.

                      Pat,

I had the same problem last year with my 07. FOB batteries good (not waffled) would work in the FOB slot in the glove box but still got no FOB detected messages.

I ended up having to reprogram the FOBs. There are several youtube videos but here is a link to a write up on the CF.

C6 Corvette General Discussion - C6 Comprehensive Fob Programming Instructions - I have redone the instructions to include a test of the glovebox slot before doing the long procedure so that people don't get into a situation where they erase all the old fobs and then find that the slot doesn't work and they can't add...

Took me several tries, setting the alarm off and locking myself out along the way as well!

This problem came out of nowhere. I drove the car to work one day (which I never do) and when I went to leave it didn't detect the FOB. Did the glove box thing and got it started. Figured low FOB battery, replaced them and still had the issue. Then I learned about the need to "reprogram" the FOBs - which actually is just the car computer being told to search for a FOB and load it into the cars memory after jumping through some hoops and standing on your head while reading the newspaper being held in your left hand for 3 seconds then switching to your right hand.................

                      Good luck

                      Tom

Thanks to all for your responses. I took the one that didn't work and opened it again and everything fell out on the bench. A quick reassemlely and now it works. Who knows what happened. I did call the dealer and they indicated that the FOB never looses its memory. Not sure if the service person knows much about anything.
BTW the batteries are waffled on the (-) side that it installed.
