    74 Caliper Casting Number Confusion

    Hello All -

73-74 judging guide states the 74 model caliper casting numbers are: 5452281 (inner rear), 5452284 (outer rear), 5452270 (inner front) and 5452273 (outer front).

However, other published GM references state the above casting numbers as 67-71 and lists 72-82 calipers as:
5473806 (inner rear), 5473807 (outer rear)
5473795 (inner front) and 5473796 (outer front)

Can someone verify which set of casting numbers are correct for the 74 model?

    Thank you,
    Vic

In my long-held opinion, 1974 used the 547xxxx caliper casting numbers. In my opinion, if the 545xxxx calipers are found on a 1974 they most likely got there as sleeved, rebuilt EXCHANGE calipers.

The caliper build date is stamped on the lower side of one of the caliper outboard ears. The build date is either a four or five digit number.

Thanks Guys - All my originals (that looked like they had never been off my 74) were the 547's that Joe referenced - but there is conflicting info out there for sure.
        Many thanks for your help.
