Help researching 72 Pewter Manual Coupe Air, VIN: 1Z37K2S510873 ENG: V0215CDH

    Hello Everyone,
First time poster, so apologies if this is not the correct forum. Im trying to get any past judging or sale info ( anything really ) on a C3 Coupe that was sold out of the US some years ago for export Down Under, its a 1972 Pewter ( Silver ) Manual Coupe Air, Black Interior, VIN: 1Z37K2S510873 ENG: V0215CDH. vehicle has been offered to me, but as its left the US, I have no way of verifying it apart from the codes, I dont have the door plate tag details for option verification yet, except the pictures; but if anyone in the Fraternity had any back ground on car, when it was sold, what state, condition etc, id be greatly appreciative. The car is described as original, original paint etc
    Kind Regards
    Stuart

    Stuart,

You probably already know that it’s not listed in the C3 Corvette Registry website. No luck there.

      Hello Gary
      many thanks for that reply.
i guess if anyone had any historic search or sale info or back ground on the car, as searching from outside the US is not bringing anything up at all
      kind regards

You can get whatever info NCRS has on the car with these reports: "The Award Confirmation Document could provide an important link or be the missing piece to a vehicles history. This service includes a copy of the Shipping Data Report for your car if it is available for your model. The cost for this service will be $310 USD. Pay by Credit Card or PayPal. Please note: The Award Confirmation Document will provide any information that NCRS has on event judging awards. In the event that there is no event judging award information the charges are still valid."

Looking at the vin, it is a base engine coupe. The vin 510873 should have been built in December of 1971. The engine stamp CDH is also for a base engine and with manual.
Unless I'm making some basic mistake, the engine stamp date, 0215, Febuary 15th, doesn't match up with a December built car.

            Hey Leonard
good morning, I hope you are well
do you think that if it was late Dec build, with Christmas shut it could have had a Feb block build slipped in? Apparently car was a one owner, original, sold out of Arizona late 1990’s or early 2000’s?? The pics look right, any help from Arizona chapter members appreciated.
            Thanks for the decode Leonard
as mentioned, any help appreciated from all the way down here
            kind regards

NO Cant think of a reason A block built in Feb. would be installed at the factory in a DEC. BUILD BODY

The information I have indicates that it was the 563rd car built in January of 1972. That being said, there still can’t be a February motor in an early January car unless somehow that car had some very rare condition that caused it to have been retained at the St. Louis factory that long. A picture of the engine stamp pad might help a little in trying to figure things out, but for it to be the factory-installed motor in the car would be a major s t r e t c h!

Unless the Corvette Black Book is wrong; December 1971 production started with car 510310 and January 1972 started with car 512661

If it was a warranty replacement (service) block, the pad suffix code should be CE.

Also, I agree with Mike E...the CORVETTE side of the St. Louis assembly plant was tiny compared to almost any vehicle manufacturer's assembly plants.

Not enough room (IMO) to hold a car that long to replace the original factory-installed engine in the repair area (assuming your V0215CDH was not the original ?)
                        thx,

I think that you will need pictures of the block stamp, block date code, and certification label in the door to be able to determine much more about this car.

                              Hi everyone
my brother is going to try and take a look as I need to fly to NZ on business
see identity card pic and comments, this is card original to car, makes sense, I’m just not sure about engine, but it’s obviously period correct, if it was dealer changed, would it still be CE stamped?
                              cheers
