1957 clock

I've owed a 1957 fuelie for three years and during that time I have had to get the clock repaired five times. I just got it back and installed a few days ago and this morning it had stopped and actually melted the plastic dial face. it was so hot i could not touch it barehanded. I have had it repaired each time by CorvetteClocks but now he says he cannot get parts and likely will not be able to fix it. Very frustrated since I am six days out from a PV in South Carolina. Any suggestion? I cannot find an operating one anywhere.
This morning as I walked out to the garage I was feeling awesome thinking I have the PV and a Duntov in site since everything was working so well. To lose the PV because of the clock is heartbreaking

I used to have a spare 57 clock but musta sold it at carlisle in recent past. it isn't here any longer. I was planning on bringing it to Clemson for loan. sorry ray. Mike

Hi Ray

This will not help you at this time but the topic came up at a chapter meet this weekend.
The clock will continue to run unless the battery is fully disconnected. The clock rewinds every few minutes. When you shut your car off and put it away, disconnect the battery connection at the battery disconnect. You should have one for flight judging. It was said that a weak battery will also increase the possibility of the clock failing.
