Are you sure the starter wires are on correct, the black wire is a ground for the wiper and heater motor and you could have put it on the solenoid terminal with the battery cable.

I changed out the front wire harness and everything worked.
I must have had a bad wire harness and simply could t find the issue. It was original and it might have had multiple issues and I could t track it downKeith Burmeister- Top

Had an intermittent issue with my early 69, a one owner virgin car. I always had to disconnect the battery if parked over a day or so; took a while to chase this one. Turned out to have a pinched wire between the column mount and bracket from the factory... Yep. Can't make this up. The wire were barely protruding out of the insulation in the pinched area. very happy it wasn't deep in the harness.You do not have permission to view this gallery.
