My '65 coupe looks to have been stored inactive for a long period of time. Thus, all three vent cables (two fresh air and rear coupe vent) froze up. It seems someone, in trying to free them up used excessive force and dislodged the cable sleeve from the 'under dash' vent cable mount.
At this point it looks like my only option is to either repair the cables or replace them.
First, option purchase new cables. However, in checking with all the major suppliers, these cable are no longer offered. 63-64 cables are available but these have different knobs than 65-66 cables. I would go this route and change the knobs but cannot see how to remove the knob without destroying it.
Second option, repair old cables. Does anyone know a repair procedure for effectively crimping or otherwise reattaching the cable sleeve to the mounting bracket? (assuming I can loosen up the frozen cable).
Does anyone have any recommendations, know a source, or have any experience repairing vent cables.
