    67 L71 Distributor

When I bought my Corvette it had a points distributor in it. I am doing a long term restoration and am getting the motor rebuilt.
I bought a restored TI distributor for it along with a new wiring harness, and restored amplifier.
The distributor has the partial bottom groove. I know that GM replaced the partial groove with full groove distributers some time in 67.
My question is, Can I use the partial groove distributor in my motor?
The casting date of the motor is A97.

FYI a single point distributor can be converted to mag-pulse and vice versa simply by swapping the breaker plate for a stationary pole piece and the cam assembly with a rotating pole piece.

As far as the partial versus full groove I think either will work, BUT you need to do some research to verify. The authority on this subject is the late John Hinckley. Search here using his name and "JohnZ" on the Corvette forum using likely search words like distributor groove partial full.

Joe Lucia may also be able to provide a definitive answer.

Let us know what you find .
