Just joined NCRS and a newbie here with my first post....

I notice looking at the list 3367 3884505 carburetors that most codes have a 3 DIGIT number. I understand that a 4 digit numbers are replacement carbs.I have seen more then a few with a letter in the middle of the 3 digit code. Is this normal and original? The ones attached read 5B3 and 5A3.I hope I posted this in the right forum.
    Thank you.

The letters A and B represent the months of November and December which are the 11th and 12th months, which do not work when you use a system where the first digit is year, the second is month and the third is week. A two digit month would make it a four digit code.

      Welcome to NCRS Tech Board.

      Year - Month - Week

      "5B3" would be 1965 - December - 3rd week

      "5A5" would be 1965 - November - 5th week

January is "1", Feb is "2", ... ... Sept is "9", Oct is "0", Nov is "A", and Dec is "B".
