Fifty four years ago today I plunked down $3300 ($26,102 in 2025 dollars) for my 69 Corvette. The mechanic that I brought it to for an opinion on the purchase said it would be gone in 5 years. He was but I still have the Corvette.

Congratulations on 54 years! Sounds like a keeper to me ! I bet you remember that first sight of your 69. Lets hear that story. My 57 and I have been together 60 years last November so like you they will be with us to the end unless I can figure a way to take it with me.

I got back from Army active duty in November '70 and new that I just had to ahve one of these. I couldn't afford anew '71 or even a used '70 so a used '69 it was. This was the first one I looked at in an apartment building parking lot just off the Long Island Expressway. My dad said you can't buy the first one you look at so I looked at a few others and bought this one. It was put into service 1 year and 3 months prior to my purchase. First pic is from March of '71. Sercond is lat year at Woodward Dream Cruise NCRS Chapter event.

Hey Jeff, did you put on the wheel covers for preference or to get to original configuration?

From the day I bought the car I wanted those PO2's but couldn't afford them. After I restored the car, I finally found an NOS set that I could afford about 15 years ago and never had the trim rings and center caps on again. Either you really love them or really hate them. I'm the former.

Great story, and history of ownership. The PO2's and Redlines are awesome on the Silver!

                      Hope you keep it forever,
                      Eric

Forever is a long time. At least in my lifetime anyway.

                          Congratulations, Jeff. Great story.

You were lucky to find the car and it was lucky to find you too.

Your ownership has rewarded you with many a smile and it’s rewarded us here with the value of your experience and wisdom.

I wish you both a very long, happy and healthy relationship.
