I don't believe an L71 engine (435 HP) equipped car was available from the factory with an M35 Powerglide Transmission. I have a '67 L68 (427/400 HP) that was available with the M35 Powerglide transmission. The center carb on my tri-power car is unique to the to the M35 equipped cars. The last four digits of the center carb part number for M35 cars is 9872 versus 2355 for manual transmission cars. The 9872 carbs are indeed very rare. For the '67 model year only 207 L68 tri-power cars with M35 were built.

Mine is a 69 with the TH400 (M40) as per the tank sticker this was first offered in 69 so I think the numbers are correct

OK, I didn't know L71 engines were available with auto transmissions for the '69 model year.
One source you might try for the center carb you're seeking is Jon Shafer of Corvette Specialties of Kansas City. The rare center carb on my car when I purchased it was from a 1974 car. Jon had a correct 9872 center carb for a '67 Corvette that I purchased from him. He advertised in Driveline. Good luck.

You could also order a '69 L-88 with a TH400 instead of the M-22 HD four speed. The standard axle ratio For both L-71 and L-88 with TH400 was 3.08 with 2.73 and 3.36 optional. Being as how the automatic with these engines was focused on drag racing, it's strange that shorter axle ratios were not available.

I think these were the only two instances that a Corvette could be ordered with a mechanical lifter engine and automatic transmission.

Yes and these trans. have a CY code on the plate on the RH side, these were only used on solid, lifter cars and have a six clutch pac instead of the normal 4 just FYI almost as rare as the center carbs although they were used on all GM cars with solid lifter engines

The 1969 L71/L89 and L88 cars could be ordered with the M40 CY high shift point transmission. GM built 255 M40 L71/L89 cars and 15 M40 L88's. In regards to finding the right carburetor, I would check with Jon Shafer or Phil at Custom Carburetor. Do you have the correct solenoid bracket? If not, Kevin Cavanaugh and an NCRS member in NH has them.

WOW that is a low number can you tell how many L71 out of the 255 I'm sure the majority are L71 as the L89 is rare by it's self never mind with auto trans thanks for the info

There are no GM production numbers that separate the 255 M40 L71/L89 cars, as all L89 option cars required the RPO L71 option. I own the L89 and L88 registries, and I have 14 L89 M40 69s in my database. So, looking at the numbers, the majority of M40 CY transmission cars were L71s.

thanks that is still a pretty low number out of 38000 + cars in 69
I actually have 2 solenoid brackets so I.m good there
