‘67 A/C Engine Mount Shims

Would like to know what the finished would be on these A/C engine mount shims for a ‘67 big block? Are they plated or painted. If plated what is the finish? Thanks.

Hi Gary,

The only supposed real ones that I've seen through the years have been pretty corroded. Unsure of any original plating. Every repro I've seen have been zinc plated. But thanks to your post I've dug a little deeper regarding measurements between 1966 and 1967 Big Block AC Motor Mount V-Shims.

Noland Adams states for 1966 these shims are part #3894534, steel, and .237 to .259 inches thick. This part number jives with the '66 AIM. Noland further states that the 1967 shims are part #3910756, steel, and .116 to .136 inches thick. This part number jives with the '67 AIM. So now I'll be mindful of the shim thickness as I hunt for real ones.

Just asked a good Corvette friend if his early November '65 built 1966 L36 AC coupe had original shims and plating? His response was yes they were factory installed, crude, and he thinks they were bare steel. He should know, he bought the car when it was just a couple of years old.
