Why did they move 56-57 flight judging to Friday and 53-55 to Saturday ? In the past 53-55 is always done on Friday and 56-57 is on Saturday.

The classes with the most cars is almost always on Friday, the least cars on Saturday. That is so the judging and tab can be completed for the banquet.

          Don,

Almost every Regional or National 56-57 have always been on Saturdays and 53-55 on Friday's no matter the number of cars.

I agree with Mike, the 53-57 classes have never had enough cars to affect TAB or the Banquet.

              Hi,

Lynn is covering for both 53-5 and 56-7.

Decision was made to have the division with the greater number of cars on Friday.

Most of the Judges are the same between the two classes. Other than making for a less stressful and easier day for the Tabulation team, I don't understand what the issue is here. As always, I'm willing to listen to anyone's comments.

Garry Mion, Gary Craig and I all thought this was the best judging line up for this Regional.

                Regards, Joe

The problem comes into making airline reservations, if I had known that 53-55 ( only 1 car ) which would be on Saturday I would have left earlier now I'm stuck for 10 hours waiting for my flight which I can't change. I sure this impacts other judges and owners when you start moving judging classes to different days. Once the classes are set for certain days don't change them it screws up the owners and judges, leave well enough alone. Was this change discussed with the Team Leaders ? I heard this was decided just a couple of weeks ago at the Clemson Regional, most of us had already made our airline reservation by then. Now if we had many cars like 67's I can understand that. We 53-55 and 56-57 teams have never had problems getting our sheets to the Tabulation in a timely matter. Very very seldom did we have any day changes on the 53-57 teams in the past.

Mike, As sympathetic as I am to your issue of having a long delay between finishing judging and getting onto a flight. I have ALL of NCRS to think about when making a decision. Our Judging days are Thur, Friday and Saturday. From this point on, we will continue to do the bulk of the cars on Friday. The car count changes right up to the cut off date so I don't have any way to control when cars are going to be judged. Therefore a decision will be made once the cut off date is set, for which cars will be judged on which days. I have been following Dave Brigham for 2 years and I know for a fact that this is exactly how it has been done in the past. I would love to get back to the days when we have 6-8 cars in each division and everyone is pressured to get their cars done by 4:00 each day. That's is not our world today. Hopefully we can get back to that at some point.

                    Regards,

This may have been done for other classes but not for 53-57 cars.

Kind of hard to make airline reservations when you keep changing the days for judging.

So are you going to publish which cars get judged on which days after the cut off date in the future ? The membership deserves to know so they can plan accordingly.

And if you look on the published schedule right next to the schedule of events, it says (Tentative, Subject to Change).

Mike, I understand what you are trying to get across. This may not have happened in 53-57 group recently, but it has happened to many divisions in the past 2 years alone. To answer your question of did I discuss this with the team leaders, the answer is NO. It was the same Team Leader for both days so we knew that he had to be at the event both days. When it concerns several Team Leaders it is usually discussed in advance. KC and I switched days many times. Each time we did, it was never discussed with our Judges or Owners. It was only discussed between us and Dave Brigham. When the notice for this event was sent out to all the Team Leaders to pick Judges for the event, they were all informed as to which day the cars would be judged.

Since there is only 1 car on Saturday, doesn't it make sense that there should be no issue with getting out of the event in time to make a flight out? If you make your reservations to leave the event for after 4:00 PM I don't believe you will ever have an issue with a flight. I've been in NCRS for 40 years and never missed a flight out of the event. It didn't make a difference if we had 1 car or 8 cars on Saturday.

                            Regards,

                              Joe,

In the 20 years I've been judging 53-57 these classes may have moved once or twice to different days. I'm a little surprized both Team Leaders were not involved in this decision. I'm not concerned about catching my flight out but I would have caught an earlier flight instead of waiting 10 hours. In the future please consider the judges and owners in making these changes.

                              Thank you,

                              Mike
