Holley 2818-1 Carb Air Horn Holes???

Any idea why these holes would be drilled through the back side of the air horn on a Holley 2818-1 Carb?

Could they be repaired during restoration?

    Thanks,

    James

Not sure why someone would do that, taking your time with JB-Weld could be a fix.

      John,

This carb would be an incorrectly dated "driver spare" to have on the shelf for my '65 L79 car. It is date coded the 3rd week of October, 1965 (503). Just wanting to see what if any idle and drivability problems that the holes would cause if left as-is.

        James,

If the carb is just to use as a spare and not for judging, what about just stuffing tapered plugs, say rubber, silicone, etc., into the holes.

          James,
Other than at cold start when the choke blade is fully closed would those holes have any affect whatsoever (if any). I can't imagine why they would be there. If they bother you, smooth some JB Weld over them and be done with it.

Before there were the double pumper carbs produced by Holley, people would add an accelerator pump nozzle that went to the secondary's as well. Bill Jenkins was noted for that on his Super Stock combinations$_1.jpg
