Vacuum Advance Specifications For Delco 1116148

I have an NOS Delco Vacuum Advance # 1116148. I was hoping someone could tell me the specifications for this unit. From my research I see that is correct for 1959-1962 Corvette and Chevy but I do not know what engines/HP. It has a maximum advance of 15 degrees. It is marked MS 148 15.

What is the starting and ending vacuum specs?

    Thank You
    Rocco

The 1116148 requires 7 inches vacuum to start the plunger and produces 15 crankshaft degrees of advance at 15 inches vacuum.

By the way, the 1116148 was discontinued in February, 1962 and replaced by the 1116201. The latter was discontinued in January, 1965 and replaced by the 1116163. Both of the latter replacements have slightly different specs than the 1116148.

Thank You Joe. I may consider using it on my 1967 L79 since it has similar specs to the NAPA B26 that Duke recommended.

It won't pass the Two-Inch Rule for L-79, assuming an OE equivalent cam, since its typical idle behavior is 14-15" @ 750. The NAPA number of the 12" B26 is VC-1765 and any parts store should be able to cross this to whatever brand they sell.

See this recent thread about VACs. Apparently they are no longer manufactured by Standard Motor Products, and the current manufacturer, WVE, may be using different ID numbers and many have been reported to be out of spec compared to the SMP ID numbers.

The ... 148 should be valuable to pre '62 base cam engine corvette owners. The nominal specs for the ...201 are start at 8", 15 @ 15.5", essentially the same The ...163 (SMP B1) was a result of some ill-conceived parts consolidation efforts decades ago. It may take up to 18" to pull to the limits, so it won't even meet the Two-Inch Rule for a base engine/manual transmission, basic idle behavior 18" @ 500.

I always recommend local purchase of VACs since so many seem to be out of spec. Test the start and stop points before you pay and take delivery.
