C1 Trunk Mat

I am assuming that the trunk mat in C1,s specifically 1956 were tucked under the pressboard divider panel in the trunk area. Can someone confirm or tell me what is correct.

My 56 did not have the trunk mat tucked under the divider panel. The mat was laid freely over the spare tire plywood. I assume that others were the same.

So if that's the case, then the lug wrench and jack handle are under the mat and are not seen?

Yes, the wrench and handle are covered for the most part.

In my case because my car is a very early 56 it used a 55 trunk mat but in the judging manual there are specific instructions about cutting out for the power top cylinder bracket mounted behind the panel divider and for the jack handle clip. If it was just played onto then there would be no need to cut out those areas. I,m not doubting your info Mark just curious about this. Anyone else have any thoughts on this. The second design mat for 56 had the mat reworked to account for this I believe.
