    Reproduction intake manifold gasket

This is for a 66 engine. I've been looking for a 'correct' reproduction intake manifold gasket. None of the vendors I have check with have them in stock and don't expect to have any for another 3 or 4 months. I have checked with ZIP, Corvette Central, Top Flight, Volunteer Vette, Keen, Ecklers, and Dr Rebuild.

Looking at Pictures of the 'correct' reproduction gasket for a C2 carbureted engine vs a FI engine, the gaskets look mostly the same. The only differences are some vendors sell a FI gasket with the heat transfer port blocked. One other thing that possibly is different is the hump on the FI gasket has a squared off top and the carbureted gasket has a rounded top.

I have attached a picture of both. These images came from Corvette Centrals website.

    Thanks,
    Don Harris

Don, I think that the FI gaskets look correct as far as the hump in gasket goes, at least thats the way they have been reproduced for many years, unless something new has come about but I don’t think so. I would look at Zips site and see what the have. the only thing I think that was never done correctly was the block end gaskets with a small flag that could have a couple of different marking.

      Thanks Edward,

I have checked ZIP as well as most other vendors. Non have that I have checked have the gasket for a carbureted engine, ZIP doesn't have either the Carbureted or FI gaskets. I have found the FI gaskets on a couple of sites. The thing I was trying to determine if the profile of the FI intake to the heads is the same as a standard intake for a carbureted engine. If they are then the FI gasket should fit the carbureted engine.

I’m currently looking for a set for a carb car, (63 340 horse) and finding the same thing. Must be a production timing shortage as most vendors are now out and awaiting resupply.

A question on your photo… Appears the FI gaskets have the rounded pumps (and blocked off crossover center ports) and the carb gaskets humps are squared off. Thought it was the other way around, but I’m not certain on this.

Regardless, could you’re not simply clip off the rounded portion on the humps to make them squared…or round off the squared tabs… if that’s what you need? And…has anyone tried cutting out the crossover block off, to make them work for a carb car? Seems like they’re otherwise virtually the same and interchangeable?

I also though the FI gaskets had a square humps and the carb cars had a rounded hump. I have the old version of the 66 judging guide and it doesn't address the humps at all. The latest 67 guide just says '...a small tab protruding outward between the left side number three and five cylinders.' The gaskets also have the tab between cylinders 4 and 6 on the right side gasket.

Attached is a picture comparing the bottom of the 327 cast iron intake and a FI intake. I'm working on a L79 which has an aluminum intake, but I'm pretty sure the small block cast iron and aluminum intakes have the same profile where they mate to the heads. What I was trying to determine is does the FI intake also have the same profile. It looks like it does in the picture.
