    Trip To Graceland, TN

    I'm considering taking a group of Corvette owners to visit Graceland, TN. We'd likely be staying at the Graceland Hotel as I understand they have security in their garage area. I've read a fair amount of reports indicating that there are issues in this area regarding cars being stolen. I'm asking for anyone who may live near by or have visited this location to give me a reading regarding if security is a significant enough issue to bypass the stop or not.

    Thanks in advance for any information that can be provided!
    Happy Holidays to all!

    Tom,

    Contact the Memphis police stolen vehicles. Confirm with the hotel they have 24x7 security guards on site.

    The Texas Road Tour to the Convention last summer changed the planned route to bypass Memphis because multiple Corvettes were stolen right out of the Hilton Hotel parking lot where we were going to stay.

          Rob;
          Thanks much for your comments! Between what your comments were and what Garry C. said, I think we too will bypass Graceland.
          Happy Holidays!

            Tom, spoke to fellow I previously worked with. He worked at St. Judes in Memphis and moved back to Dallas. He said crime was high in Memphis as was car theft and would in no way leave a Vette or other nice or expensive car on the street or in a parking lot there. Steve

              $250 to walk through an old home? You got to be kidding me, good luck with that.

                Steve;

                Many thanks for taking the time to respond. The information you and others have given is incredibly helpful as I've never been to Memphis. We've had good luck in stopping in Nashville in the past so I thought I'd check about Memphis. I have enough information now from you, Gary and Bob such that we will bypass a stop in Memphis.
                Wishing you a happy holiday!

                    Re: Trip To Graceland, TN

                    In my working career, I traveled to Memphis every two months or so. I always stayed any place other than Memphis. Usually east of town as far as possible. Graceland is in a very bad area of town as everyone has indicated. Stay elsewhere, visit Elvis, then go somewhere else to spend the night.
