Early version of 396-427 power steering pump lower cradle bracket?

I have this lower power steering pump lower support bracket removed from a 1965 396 car, was an early 396 serial number. In the photos attached ( the dark bracket being the later) you can see the 1965 bracket is obviously different than any BB lower pump bracket I have ever seen. Mounting holes and pump mount holes are same on both, it appears to be an early version of this bracket and the later style I am used to seeing for any BB car with P/S, has some redesign features that would have strengthened it and reduced any fatigue areas. The early one has not been cut or modified in any way, obviously a factory stamping. Anyone else seen one of these? Any 396 owners able to check their cars?

There were 2 different lower brackets over the 1965-74 period. The first was used for all 1965-E68 big blocks. It was GM #3878242. It was replaced in PRODUCTION sometime in mid-1968 by GM #3946002 and was similarly replaced for SERVICE in July, 1968. I would expect that all 1965-67 big blocks were fitted with the 3878242.

It's also possible that there were some "interim" changes of either bracket that did not cause a change in part number. I doubt it but it's possible.
