I can't find a passenger car application for it so it's possible it's from a truck or marine application. However, if this alternator has ever been through a commercial rebuilding operation, it's extremely likely that all that remains of the original alternator is the drive end case (i.e. the part with the numbers on it). Commercial rebuilders break down alternator cores to their component parts, replace most wear parts, and then assemble rebuilt alternators from re-used components without installing original components in the cases they were originally installed in.

I would expect, though, that this alternator drive end case originated from about the 1971-73 period.

In addition to what Joe says, my guess is your car has A/C ? yes ? no ?
pretty sure the 61 refers to 61 amp output.
If not, you have an alternator w/ more power than you need...

To add to Marks post, the A/C alt. Was a 1100544 for the 72. One digit off. So close, if your car is AC.

Are you sure that's the correct # - that the last digit is a 1 and not a 4?
My '72 LS-5 with A/C should be #1100544, 61amp... I don't have one, but that's what it should be!
As I recall the 2F 8 code would be 1972 June 8th.
