Re: 1969 Engine Mounts - need some help / advice
Hi Patrick,
I did not know that a reproduction later style bolt kit existed? Where might I find that?
Today, per Joe's additional detailed size and finish, I went back to the Bolt Depot website and ordered (2) 7/16" - 14 x 4 1/2" long, grade 8, hex head zinc-plated bolts. I can strip these and manganese phosphate (black) finish these to correct finish even though they are 1/16" longer and they do not have the pilot tip. I might be able to modify the tip and create a pilot tip with my Dremel. The Bolt Depot did not have bolts with a "pilot tip". They (Bolt Depot) directed me to McMaster-Carr and thought they might have a pilot tip option but they do not offer "pilot tip" options either.
Bolt Depot did have (2) "Stover type" prevailing torque lock nuts, grade 8, zince finish, 7/16" - 14 thread count so I bought those. These are an exact match to what Joe described in his details.
Still have a question on the Stover self-locking nuts? Should I use blue threadlocker, anti-seize, or just leave them alone and torque to spec based on AIM P. 201, UPC 6, B3, Engine Front Mounting, item number 2, PN 272876 Nut, torque spec 25 - 35 Ft Lbs. My intuition tells me to use the blue threadlocker even with a Stover type prevailing self-locking nut.
