    1967 Directional Signal Flasher issue .. Tung-Sol #323

    Good evening.
I tested a Tung-Sol #323 (yellow plastic / with split nipple and no DOT) and it works fine in my 67 L-79.

I gave this flasher to another 67 owner, however in his car only the left side flashes but the right side does NOT flash. Although, an aftermarket flasher in the other owners 67 works flawlessly (right or left).

What would cause this disparity as the flasher works fine in my 67? Could this possibly be due to a more modern light bulb(s) on the right side of the other owners 67, requiring more flasher output in order to perform properly?

Any / all input is appreciated as I went through pages of the NCRS technical archives but could not locate this exact scenario.

    David,
Does your friend's car have incandescent or LED bulbs? If LED, that's the problem...special flasher required.

It could be some minor corrosion or a marginal ground connection with one of the right hand side bulbs. I had the identical issue with my '67 and found the ground connection (mounting nut) on one of the RH rear tail lamps was loose. The turn signals would work fine with one flasher but not with another flasher.

David K. I would inspect bulbs,if using a 323 Flasher,1034 is the correct bulb(s), sometimes owner replace bulbs with 1157 or 2057 which will fit the socket but will really be very slow to flash, those bulbs use a 552 flasher.

I thank Leif A, David D, and Edward J (my fellow members) for the efforts taken with your detailed feedbacks. I will pass along your comments to the gentleman that now has my flasher.

          Regards
          Dave K
