I'm not having much luck locating a 61-62 top for my 62 but I see plenty of the earlier versions. Since I'm only concerned with a proper actual physical fit of the top and nothing else I want to know if I can adapt the 56-60 hardtop by merely inserting a rear lower center window stainless moulding (see Corvette Central's # 431277) onto to it so it'll conform to the slight rise in the mid rear deck. Are there any other differences that I should know about such as latches or fasteners?

Re: 1956-60 and 1961-62 hardtop difference
Richard, there is a 61-62 hardtop for sale now on Bring a Trailer. The auction ends in 2 days. At the Bring a Trailer site search for Corvette removal hardtop. The auction page should pop up. Good luck.- Top

Re: 1956-60 and 1961-62 hardtop difference
John, thanks, I saw it but it's in NY and I'm in CO, another in Charlotte and others too far away to avoid crating, shipping and so on. So, if the 56-60 will fit well other than the little rise in the lower mid rear, that's my optimum option.- Top

Re: 1956-60 and 1961-62 hardtop difference
Richard the hardtop configuation is totally different. The decklid on 61-62 has a wind split down the middle that will keep the top from sealing in the rear. The tops are out there keep looking.- Top

Re: 1956-60 and 1961-62 hardtop difference
Mike et al., You are very persuasive in dissuading me from adapting the 58-60 top so I will wait--patience is not one of my salient virtues-- and try all of the venues suggested above. I have, of course, put a WTB ad in most of the places mentioned here except for the print DRIVELINE but have met with no success other than a few impractical offers. The stumbling block seems to be fabricating a crate and/or shipping it for long distance finds--the latest was a $2,500 quote for just such a chore. So, unless a hardtop can be found within a day's drive from CO 80504 or the seller is willing to meet me half way (or thereabouts), I'm topless--LOL!--till one shows up in my neck of the woods. If you have or know of one for sale that meets the above criteria, please let me know.- Top

Re: 1956-60 and 1961-62 hardtop difference
Richard,
Once upon a time I shipped a C2 hardtop wrapped in bubble wrap visa FedEx air.
Cost was reasonable then and may not be these days.
