67 C2 Corvette Inner Fender Grille Brackets

I'm working on my inner fenders (67 C2) and are riveting the grille brackets to the inner fenders. Which direction should the brackets point? Does anyone have a picture? I'm including pictures to show my dilemma.

Sorry for a not very clear picture (and the bugs and dust...I drive her a lot). This is the driver's side. The longer leg of the bracket goes toward the center of the car...the shorter leg towards the outside edge. When mounted, the inner fender tilts toward the center of the car. By attaching the brackets as described, it "squares" them to the front of the car. Hope this makes sense and helps.

Thanks for the insight. Unfortunately the copy (bought new) of the AIM did not have UPC 11-13 B1 and B2. I guess I'll need to buy another one.

The AIM is misleading. The rivet heads are on the backside (inboard) of the inner fender.

John & Gary, Yes, the AIM is incorrect. The large flat of the rivet should always be against the fiberglass and draw/cinch the metal towards it.
