A bit of a quandary here on mounting the 1964. My 1964 assembly manual shows the speed nuts were attached to the fiberglass tabs (3 o the top and 7 on the bottom), and the grill brackets were mounted to the front of the tabs. Thus sequence being screw, bracket, speed nut on the tabs. I happen to watch a video on mounting the bumpers on a 1963, and see the speed nuts are mounted on the grill brackets. Thus, sequence being screw, fiberglass tab, speed nut mounted on grill bracket. Did GM change course between 63 and 64, or is one of my sources incorrect? Thanks for the help.

Re: 1964 radiator grill mounting
Thank you very much Joseph. The nut assemblies provided by Corvette Central with the after-market grill had a much too narrow gap to place over the fiberglass tabs. Since I am not restoring to factory specifics, I purchased some nut assemblies from Tacoma Screw with a wider gap. Because the aftermarket gaps were barely wide enough to slide over the grill brackets not alone the fiberglass tabs, I was concerned that I had misread the AIM. And the journey continues........Maybe I will have the old girl up and running by Spring.- Top
