For the 1971 year, the base 270hp, and 330hp LT1 engines both use the same engine block, 3970010, and cylinder heads, 3973487. Can I install solid lifters into the base 270hp engine? What parts would I need to make the change? I love the sound of solid lifters, and hope I can install them in the 270hp engine. Thanks

To install solid lifters in your engine you would need to install a camshaft designed for solid lifters. You absolutely cannot install them on your existing camshaft.
Keep in mind that while the base engine and LT-1 did use the same block and head CASTINGS, there were many other internal differences between the two engines. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
