Hello, while installing new hoses, belt, plugs and ignition wires on my friends 1957, I noticed a crack in the end of the radiator support at the lower corner. What problems will I face replacing the radiator support? Is this a bolt in installation, or is there fiberglass repairs or modifications required? I suggested that we remove the radiator and weld and reinforce the crack as required. He however would like to replace the support. Is it required to support the front clip, and what is the procedure? I am a mechanic and would rather not get into any major body repairs. Amazing how one small repair leads larger problems on these older cars, but again it's the "FUN" of the hobby. Thanks so much in advance for any and all recommendations, John

Re: 1957 Radiator Support
Hello Mike, thank you so much for your input. will I need to support the front clip to remove the support, and will I need to remove the front bumper or grill? I agree with your choice of the 57 as I own two of them that I restored several years ago when I owned a repair shop. Thanks again, John- Top

Re: 1957 Radiator Support
John,
If the body's sitting on the frame, there's no need to support the nose. If the body's not on the frame, then it's a good idea to support the nose.
As Mike said, it's an easy removal. Remove the hood and hood hinge. Remove the fan, radiator and then remove the radiator support mount bolts. AIM Section 11 sheet 5 and Section 13 sheet 3.
