I have recently noticed indications that my 1995 LT-1 may be in need of a heater core replacement. (Windshield fogging near dashboard center outlets, "greasy" spots on passenger side carpet. I'm seems to me that this might be a job best tackled by a Corvette repair shop. There is a competent dealer/shop in my area. I would to hear from anyone who has had experience replacing a core. Also wondering can the heater core be bypassed? The car is stored winters. Thanks. P.S.- I would rate my mechanical skills as "Third Flight" at best.

This is a VERY difficult job for a C4. I'll tackle a lot of jobs on my 1992 but definitely not this one. Your best bet is to find a shop specializing in Corvettes. Even some of those might not want to do it. Expect for it to be expensive.
By the way, C4 Corvettes utilize a copper/brass heater core with soldered joints. I would recommend going with an aluminum core with aluminum tanks and all welded joints. In Appreciation of John Hinckley- Top
