    Region VII call out

    Dear Region VII NCRS members,

Since January, I have had the honor to serve the interests of Region VII (Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas) as the Region VII Director. To that end, I created a monthly Constant Contact newsletter which I write and email to Region VII members giving updates and transparency to those NCRS members and chapters in my region. I have asked each of the Region VII chapters to provide me an updated membership list with confirmed emails so that I can add each chapter member to my monthly Constant Contact newsletter. However, I've learned that approximately half of the Region VII members do not belong to a chapter. I send out my newsletter to approximately 1,100 members (many non-Region VII members have asked to receive my newsletter as well), and the open rate for my newsletters is averaging 74%. The good news is: that is twice the national average per Constant Contact. The bad news: I'm not reaching 26% of Region VII members.

If you are a member living in Region VII and haven't been receiving my newsletter, please send me a DM with your name and preferred email address, and I will be happy to add you to my list of recipients. I do not and will not speak for the whole Society. That is senior management's job. However, I believe in communication, and I want all Region VII members to get my monthly newsletter. It is filled with updates on Region VII activities, including regional and national events.

I hope to see many of you at the Frisco Regional next month. The Texas chapter does a great job of hosting that annual event.

    Best regards,
    Tony Stein

        Tony,

Can't NCRS provide you a distribution list of region members? I assume they maintain a roster of all members they can pull from.

          Re: Region VII call out

Hi Mark. Yes, they have, but members do not always keep their contact information updated. Email addresses change. I started with the list that was provided to me, but I found that some of the email addresses were inaccurate. When the chapters provided their individual chapter rosters to me, I went through each member, line by line, and found discrepancies. I had to manually update those email addresses for my Constant Contact newsletter roster. Because half of the Region VII members are not affiliated with a Region VII chapter, that means that other members in Region VII that are not affiliated with a chapter may have a different email address, too. I just want to do my best to reach as many Region VII members as possible. My duty of communication as a Director is with Region VII members.

I would add that everyone should check their profile in the NCRS database to ensure that his/her email address is up-to-date.

          Thanks for your reply, Mark.

I suspect it doesn't apply to many who follow the Technical Discussion Board, but it is a constant battle to keep up with member email addresses. Each month we send out email reminders to about 400 members. Out of that we get 20 or so bounced emails.

We try to call these members and update their email addresses. Calling is an issue as we get 2 or 3 dead phone numbers to go along with people who don't answer calls from unknown numbers. I understand that and always leave a message unless their voicemail was never setup or is full.

We have a link under the SERVICES menu where members can update their address, phone, email information. Very simple to do.

As the Captain says, what we've got here is failure to communicate. Some men you just can't reach.
