1976 Y Pipe Smog Tube Inlet

I am trying to determine if the Y Pipe, 2-1/4" I.D. is for a Non A.I.R. car as it has no passenger side attachment for the smog tube.
These exhaust parts were on the car at one time and I want to reinstall them.
The car is an L48 4 speed, production sequence number 41,508 out of 46,567 a late model '76.
The straight pipe appear to have the original style crimping and were removed at 48,000 miles.
Could this be a '76 4 speed car without A.I.R.?
I know the JG says otherwise.
But it does raise some questions.

Are the rest of the A.I.R. emission system in place...or in a box? Like the pump, mounting brackets, hoses, diverter valves smog pipe, etc?

Sure! but unless your the original owner and can verify and document originality...its guesswork.
I know the JG says otherwise.
That was studied rather extensively but given a late model 76 and the amount of changes happening to emission systems...anything could have shipped.

What is it you're trying to accomplish? You have many options but if you have to pick up emission system parts...choices may be limited.

No A.I.R components came with the car upon my purchase several years ago.

I am not the original owner of the car.

Finding information on these cars is fascinating.

Well aware of all the '76 changes that had occurred.

I am trying to accomplish what we all do.

Reinstall all the Original Dated parts as she left the factory.

Condition of the parts is in the eye of the beholder.

      Thank you Tom.

If the emission label is still in tact, it will state the emission configuration of the vehicle...AIR, EGR, catalytic converter.

          Tom,

The Emission Label is still intact and says EGR Exhaust and not A.I.R.

Not sure since JG says all 4 speeds are to have A.I.R.

Now this is making sense...L48s with four speeds were not equipped with A.I.R. in 76 or 77! Look at Table 4, the emission label XX which you label shows. We would expect then that the passenger side would not have been configured for the smog tube. You're in better shape than you probably realized with efforts to restore its original emission configuration...not having to hunt for the smog pump equipment should be a big relief!

But I see your confusion with the statement in the TIMJG

All 1975-77 four-speed cars are fitted with AIR systems, including those delivered for sale in California.
This is worthy of a correction and thanks for bringing this to our attention.
