    T. Ign.

Gonna lay out my ignorance in this area. I see this abbreviation in parts catalog and understand it is Transistor Ignition...but was that the default for a 69 350/350? If not, and it was an option, how would I refer to the default ignition? How can I tell what is in my car?
    Thank you.

ok....figured some of this out...I think. TI was not standard. one difference is non-TI uses points in distributor vs rotor/stator of TI. So I guess one remaining question would be...is there any way to tell which is in a car by looking in the engine bay?

The TI amplifier would be installed drivers side in proximity of the radiator

The single point ignition was standard on L-46, TI optional. The single point has a single black wire coming off the bottom of the distributor that connects to the coil neg. terminal. The TI distributor as a two wire pigtail that connects to the TI harness that runs down to the amp behind the grill.

Perhaps the quickest way to ID what you have is open the cap window and if you don't see a point set with an Allen head screw to adjust dwell angle you will see the OD surface of the stationary pole piece.

As Don S has stated; look for the evidence of the TI amplifier. If the TI system has been removed or by-passed, the amplifier is usually in place because of it's difficult location. Easiest way to identify it is to look in the driver's front wheel well, toward the front of the car. Best view is with the tire removed. Three nuts or three holes (if the amplifier mounting screws have been removed) will be there. A smooth fiberglass panel indicates a TI amplifier has never been mounted.

By far the quickest way to tell if car is equipped with TI is to look at e firewall right of
distributor. If Ballast resister is there then NO TI; if no Ballast resister is THERE
SHOULD BE A TI CAR. LARRY P.S. Yes I know this is not foolproof all the time if
            BABBA got involved!

I thought all C3s with single point ignitions have a resistor wire in the harness (as does TI) rather than an external ballast resistor. Am I wrong?

Not wrong. Last year for a ballast resistor was 1967 with point ignition.
