1963 FI Unit - Build date before car was assembled

What is the acceptable date difference between the build of a FI unit - and the build date of the car ?
I am sure - however I could have been drinking at the time - the acceptable difference is/was 6 months ?

    As always thanks Keith

Keith, Please read the Judging Guide. There are some differences in the 63 units. If you go by the 6 month rule you may end up with a unit that is not correct for your project. What is the VIN range of your car? I might be able to give you some details to look for.

I think Joe's recommendation was to obtain a Judging Guide for your 1963 and follow that.

As to six months, you'll see that reference re casting dates on engine blocks. That six months is an arbitrary criteria - typically, engine cases didn't sit around. As John Hinckley has noted, six months was so we would have cars to judge. (trying to find a replacement block within a couple weeks before your build would be problematic).

Expected part numbers are going to be what is expected for your VIN range. That's why TIMJG is your reference.
