It was most noticeable with the windows closed. Open windows created enough wind noise to drown it out. It was not noticeable passing through 2000 while accelerating through the gears. Typically the only conditions that it was noticeable was cruising at 50 MPH in fourth, which is about 2000 revs with the 3.08 axle and OE diameter tires. Another thing I noticed is that if I had any cargo back there like a small suitcase the drumming was not evident, which is expected.
I'm not sure what excited it, but my best guess is the exhaust system. For sure those little rubber "shims" eliminated it.
