Replacement radial, white wall tires for a 63?

    Guys,

I am attempting to find a source for 4(four), quality, brand new, P205/75R15 radial tires with 3/4" or 5/8" white walls for my 63 Roadster. I am finished with judging and now time to drive it. Any suggestions for potential suppliers, contact information, websites or companies is much appreciated. Quality white walls are key.

    Thx,
    Bob Aquilino

I have the Toyo Extensa on my wife's Honda but they weren't available during Covid, so I went with Hankook Kinergy for my '67.
I would have preferred the Toyo because of the Honda experience but the Hankooks have been fine for the last few years.

Introducing the Hankook Kinergy ST H735, the ultimate all-season standard touring passenger car/SUV tire that offers exceptional performance and durability. With its advanced features and cutting-edge technology, this tire is designed to provide you with a smooth and comfortable ride while ensuring optimal traction in any weather condition. Featuring an asymmetric tread pattern design, the Kinergy ST H735 offers improved handling performance and long mileage. The optimized block stiffness enhances stability and control on the road, allowing for precise steering and confident maneuverability. Equipped with the VAI (Visual Alignment Indicator) system, this tire makes it easy to check the alignment of your vehicle, ensuring even wear and extending the lifespan of the tire. The solid center rib provides excellent dry handling and braking performance, giving you the confidence to tackle any road surface. The tie-bar design enhances cornering stability and reduces tread block movement, resulting in enhanced grip and traction on both wet and dry roads. The wide circumferential 4 channel grooves efficiently evacuate water from the tire's footprint, reducing the risk of hydroplaning and improving wet traction. With open shoulder and wide aqua grooves, the Kinergy ST H735 offers outstanding traction in snowy conditions. The traction grooves design, notch sipes, and variable angle of sipes further enhance grip on slippery surfaces, ensuring your safety during winter drives. This tire is M+S rated, indicating its capability to perform in mud and snow. In addition to its impressive features, it also comes with a road hazard warranty (not applicable to Original Equipment tires), providing peace of mind against unexpected damages. Furthermore, Hankook offers a 30-day free trial plan, allowing you to experience the superior performance of this tire risk-free. With a remarkable 70,000-mile treadwear mileage warranty, the Hankook Kinergy ST H735 is built to last. Upgrade your driving experience with this exceptional tire that delivers improved handling performance, comfort, and long mileage while providing excellent all-season traction in wet, dry, and snowy conditions.

I bought them online from Performance Tire and they arrived quickly. Had a local shop mount and balance them.

      Owen,

You must have the only Honda on the block with w/w tires.

Yeah, I got the gold emblems, black-out windows, 1M watt stereo...
Actually, no w/w, just the same Extensa tire.

Do a Web search and search the big tire retailers like Tire Rack and Tires Easy for size 205/75R15. You should find plenty to choose from, but most are brands you've never heard of, usually manufactured in Asia. Thailand is big tire manufacturing country.

They're all junk, low speed rated, rock hard, low grip compound, lacking the safety of a spiral wrapped nylon cap belt that will keep the tire from disintegrating in the event of an internal structural failure.

If you want this safety feature you'll find a few H-rated and above in the 215/70R15 size like the W-rated Vredestein Sprint Classic, but they're probably all blackwall.

The tire landscape is constantly changing with nearly continuous changes in brand, model, size, and style choices and it's getting tougher to find good tires in sizes for vintage cars.

I have B/W Bridgestone Ecopia 205-75-15 radials on my 64 and love the ride. Purchased at Discount Tire.

To add to this, if you decide on a quality tire like this one...you can have them drop shipped to Diamondback Tires (https://dbtires.com/) and they will vulcanize any size whitewall you want. Simply tell them the width you want and the distance from the wheel rim, and they'll make it happen.

Bob, I got 4 Uniroyal radial tires P205/75R15's at Discount Tire with 1" whitewalls, which is correct for the '63 should you wish to compromise from the wider whitewalls you mentioned.

                Thanks,
                Fred
