Tach shaft too short

On my 61, generator on passenger side, 270 HP. The shaft inside the cable is too short to go into the generator tach drive. I'm looking for a third order, Paragon and now Corvette Central the same problem. Even when I pull on it, it still doesn't get anywhere near the brass part. There is a collar on the guage side that prevents the shaft from coming out of the guage.

I had the same problem on my 62. I ended up getting a parts store cable insert, and made a new cable to go into my NEW tach cable (from Zip). The only other option you would have, is to have a new cable made. I recently had a referral passed on to me, as a friend of mine ran into the same problem as well.
