63 license light assembly paint color

    Good morning,

The JM states the 63 license light assembly is "painted dull silver". Does anyone have a recommendation on a readily available paint that would be close to what was used on these from the factory?

    Thanks so much,
    Todd

I don't know the rattle can color, but pick out something with a cap that matches as close as possible this.

        Todd,
We use dull aluminum and buy it at Ace Hardware.

Here is the service version installed. It was sold to me by Hartway Chevrolet many years ago (probably about 1972).

Be aware that the color might have changed at (or before) the time this service part was made. I expect someone will comment on the colour of this one, and say it is typical or or not typical of an OEM version, for 1965.

I am also expecting a comment on the lens gasket color. Probably SB white... Note: This gives you an example of what kinds of shades will show up in photos. Above, this, Mr. Hooper's image looks lighter, but if photographed in a different setting, this one would look the same as Hooper's...

Todd, Krylon #1403 Dull Aluminum works great - sorry no picture.

                THanks,

                  Thanks Fred,

I did have some Krylon #1403, and painted it last night. It looks very bright silver, almost aluminum, and not dull. Is that what is comparable to the factory color?

                    Todd,

I used Argent Silver from Eastwood. Came out very nice and dull as it should be.
