1962 Voltage Regulator solid state conversion

Does anyone know of a solid state conversion kit for a 1962 VR?

I see ones for 63-68, and suspect they might work. Can anyone confirm or deny?

Patrick,
I think the difference between the '62 and earlier VR and the '63 and later is generator vs alternator. Don't think they are interchangeable.

I would have thought that as well, but if you look up replacement VRs from Standard Motor Products, both 62 and 63-later show the same VR-103 unit.

Any other thoughts out there?

I called them, and they do seem to be very knowledgeable. Very nice on the phone.
I'll be sending out the VR to them, and will report back when it arrives. They currently have a 4-6 week backlog.

No less than 6 years back there was someone selling these conversions in the Driveline

anyone recall who that was?

Probably made back then by K&B Products.
I believe the business ended when Ken passed, which is too bad. They made some great items.
