    71 T & T Horn Button & Contact Adhesive

When I removed the horn button on a 1971 tilt & telescopic steering wheel column I noticed that there is "some sort" of adhesive material that is retaining the horn button (see photos ).

I'm trying to determine if it's supposed to be there or not. I've looked at the standard and T & T horn contact and buttons (UPC 12, Sheet C1 and UPC &N37, Sheet A1) in the 1971 AIM and couldn't find/identify any type of adhesive on the horn contacts.

Does anyone know if the adhesive is supposed to be there? If so, what type of adhesive is it?
    Appreciate your help . . .

It is not supposed to be there. Possibly an effort to silence the horn at inopportune times.

Or maybe Bubba was trying to hold on the horn button?

I would replace the horn contact and inspect the plastic switch it depresses. There are some good YouTube videos on the horn assembly.
