What Was The Main Reason Why The Hood Support Bracket Position Was Different (C2)

The above was reference for the C2 B/B Vs. S/B Hood Support Brackets. Of course
we know the B/B was on the D/S and the S/B was on the P/S. We also know there are
exceptions like the early 65 396's and the the S/B with A/C. I searched this board
and could not find the answer for this. Comments Please and Thanks>Larry

Larry- I would say that one reason might be clearance issues for the wiring harnesses.
On my car, anyway, (66 BB) (Pass. side), there are two pretty ridged wiring harnesses routed directly over the flat location where the hood support would be mounted if it were on the Driver's Side. (Wiring for Headlights, horns, turn signals, and Trans. Ign.-etc.)
Of course, there could be other reasons, such as mounting provisions on the hood or inner fender?
