There are excellent posts on the site relating to the correct orientation of the upper end of the front coil springs relative to a hole in the top of the tower. I thought I had my front end rattle situation narrowed done to the front passenger side spring and and in fact, that spring is not correctly clocked. I took some scope photos of both the left and right upper mounting which are shown below. In my case, the passenger side spring (same side as the noise) is definitely not correctly aligned and unfortunately neither is the driver side although no noise. The drive side is actually worse.
Definitely have to deal with both side now and it is not a job that I will tackle personally. So I want to be prepared for any unforeseen circumstances in particular, whether or not the springs are correct in the 1st place.
Is there a way to determine (on the car) if the springs I have are correct for my car (427/400HP convertible standard suspension)? The reason for that question is becasue the top of the spring on the drivers side is so far off I can't judge if it too large to fit correctly. The bottoms of both springs seat perfectly.

Driver side - way off
