1963 Air Cleaner Elbow for base to Oil Filler Tube

I'm looking for this elbow as the air cleaner base I was just given as it is missing. Is there a source for this elbow that I can get tack welded into the base?

That elbow was originally crimped (perhaps swaged is a better description) to the air cleaner base as was the elbow on the oil fill tube. Welding or brazing may not work out very well given that both pieces are Chrome plated, and even if welding works, it's likely to leave discoloring surrounding the weld area.

If you can find a correct elbow, epoxying it to the air cleaner base is likely a better way to go. Rub a thin film of silicone grease the ends of the short rubber connecting hose so it will easily slide off the elbows and not overstress the crimps.

Back in the seventies the elbow on the oil fill tube on my SWC's 340 HP engine loosened, probably due to many air cleaner base removals over the years, and I always removed the hose from the fill tube elbow since it was more accessible than the air cleaner base elbow.

GM still had the oil fill tube with elbow assembly in stock, so I bought a new one, but the chrome plating was very poor compared to the original.

Gerald, 250HP, 300HP or 340HP? Only the 340 was chrome. Easier to find a used 250 or 300 base and the Oil Filler Tube is available.
