Rear Spring Retainers and Hardware Updates

I've gone through several of the threads regarding the issues with retainers and would like to know if anyone has updated recommendations/preferences for which vendor(s) to use for ordering new rear suspension parts (especially the retainers) that will be as correct as possible (Zip, Corvette Central, etc.). Although I haven't used it yet, a big thanks to Gary B. for loaning out his swagging tool to the members for the retainers.

    Thanks in Advance,
    Fred

Fred, the last time I brought the cups I got from Long Island corvette( sure miss them). I would think Zip corvette has the correct shallow cups, and were natural no plating . If you can find some NOS rubber bushings I would buy them. But rubber bushings are available from most venders.hardware kits are around also. But if you have originals I would re-use. A quick note on the trailing arm through bolt are a one year only(63). No cotton pin to lock the nut, it uses a Flat washer, lock washer and hex nut.

Ed, I just checked part numbers in the AIM against bolts and cushions on eBay and the AIM does show use of a cotter pin for the castle nuts at the end of the bolts. Also, original GM numbers the guy has on eBay do not match the AIM #'s so they are probably for a later year? eBay #'s 458982 for the bolts, 3831586 for the cushions. I also found some "new" cushions that I purchased from LI some time ago.

        Thanks,
        Fred

            # in eBay for the cushions is correct, AIM # for the bolts is 3831585.

Fred, I believe if you have a very late 63 it may have cotter pin and castle nut. My 10xxx had no castle nut and no cotter pin.

It is a late March car - very low 11,000.
